BARONE VILLAGRANDE CONTRADA ETNA ROSSO 2013
Barone di Villagrande impresses with its 2013 Etna Rosso. Because fruit comes from Milo (in the province of Catania) on the southern side of the volcano, this wine shares little in common with its cousins from northern Etna. The blend is the same with 80% Nerello Mascalese and 20% mixed red varieties. The wine is aged in 500-liter casks made with oak from Etna. This expression is much darker in color and concentration and the bouquet offers richer, more direct aromas. You'll recognize pressed rose petal, cassis, blackberry, spice and roasted chestnut. The quality of tannins is also different here with a softer, silkier approach. This beautiful Etna Rosso offers a full-immersion sensorial experience.
